Art Project

This week for art, we made Japanese fans.  We first looked up the history and uses of the Japanese fan.  Then we looked at examples to get an idea of what a Japanese fan should look like.  Then students created their own fans using watercolors and black acrylic paint.  The kids had a lot of fun with this project, and their fans turned out awesome!

About Third Grade

It has been a wonderful start to the school year so far!

Just so you know a little bit about how third grade works, here is a short summary of our daily schedule.

First thing in the morning, students complete a morning worksheet at their desks that we go over as a class. After that, we have chapel (Wednesdays) or I lead the students in devotions as a class.  This quarter we are going to be talking about the fruit of the spirit, and this week we have been reading verses about love.  The students have each picked a name of one of their classmates who they have been praying for every day :)

After devotions we have Bible, Grammar, Writing, Snack (while I read aloud), and then go outside for recess.  Then we have Spelling and Reading before lunch.

After lunch, students participate in Handwriting, Math, Science or Social Studies, and Art (Wednesdays) as well as their daily special.

The Specials Schedule is as follows:

Monday: P.E.
Tuesday: Computers
Wednesday: Music
Thursday: P.E. and Library
Friday: Music

Every Friday I also make sure to have a class meeting with the students to talk about how we think our week went, and what we could improve/are looking forward to the coming week.

We also have the privilege of having an aide in our classroom this year.  Miss Morgan Martin is in our room at various times throughout the day on every day except Wednesday.  We are SO blessed to have her help!

I am looking forward to an amazing year with some amazing students!  I am loving getting to know all of them better, and I am getting really excited about the growth that we will be seeing this year!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns about anything, please do not hesitate to e-mail me (rgood@linvillehill.org).

This blog is going to be used this year in place of newsletters, so keep an eye out because I will be posting important information on this page!
